More slo-mo goodness. I must say I’m not over-keen on the soundtrack, but if you are, it’s over here.

Soul check: if this doesn’t make you very happy, then you don’t have one. Sorry about that.

The jewel amongst the Obama campaign videos. It seems like a year ago I first saw this (maybe it was) and here it is again, amongst a selection of YouTubes at 3quarksdaily. The looming election is making me anxious: possibly more because Obama seems to have the upper hand at this point. It has to do with the past two (stolen) elections, the worrying inaction over fraudulent electronic voting, and the possible reaction amongst USAian voters to Obama’s global popularity. Is it possible that they would elect McCain out of sheer spite?
Technical note: it seems that, the valid Youtube embed code no longer works in Firefox, possibly since the advent of version 3. It still works in Safari and Opera, so now there are two characters in the frame to be yelled at, mocked and derided: Mozilla for fixing that which was not broken, and Youtube, who have still not provided an embed code that will validate. So, the above video is embedded with the standard, non-valid code.
Dubai, as noted previously, is expected to become a major exporter of apocalyptic omens, portents and casual weirdness for that arbitrary portion of the coming century that we can describe — with due trepidation — as “foreseeable”.
I passed over the picture from the same set that recalled Edvard Munch’s Scream, in favour of this more generally surreal version of L.S. Lowry as directed by Cronenberg; the effect is somewhat lightened, perhaps not in the best possible way, by the fact that the DRB post is titled Goblin Attack!, after other business, unrelated hitherto.
(Note my utter lack of interest in the technicalities, either in the how-exactly of the installation, nor the (no doubt impressive) specs for the keen sliding-about sports anorak. I’m strictly here for the Signs-of-the-End-Times ambience.)
