Further to my recent tweet, it turns out that Firefox never actually had an “open in foreground tab” contextual menu item to call its own. I’d forgotten (if I ever knew) that the feature was owed to the Tab Mix Plus add-on, which stopped working once I upgraded to FF3.5.
Sheila Lennon had the same problem, and set about the irksome task of downgrading Firefox, before discovering a beta version of a FF3.5-compatible version of the add-on, which you can find here.
