Don’t Be Denied

Time Fades Away, album cover

My tune for the day: Neil Young, Don’t Be Denied, from Time Fades Away (1973). Usual disclaimers apply.

I suspect that it’s in the quality of Neil’s delivery (it remains the only version of the song that’s seen official release), and I’m wondering about the parallels between Neil’s situation at the time, and where Barack Obama is at today: riding a tsunami of popular support; recently bereaved; cognizant that What Needs To Be Done lies outside middle class Americans’ comfort zone.
Neil Young, of course, only had to give voice to it (and he was allowed to do it drunk) whereas Obama, bless ‘im, will be expected to Actually Do Something. I suppose it helps that, if this were actually an election for President of the World, Obama would walk it right now. That’s some serious political capital there.

Best of luck, d00d. Srsly.

[Don't forget to vote, now, guys?]
