From Kosmograd’s photoset of architectural drawings by Hugh Ferriss (1889-1962), from the collection at the Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library. Ferriss was active (and successful) throughout the heyday of high Modernism, and his work inspired other architects and influenced the wider culture — think Gotham City — although he designed few actual buildings himself.

UPDATE: I just found that jaime over at the nonist did a far better post on Ferriss than this one. The permalink structure over there gives no clue as to the year it was perpetrated…
