We are indebted to Lord Whimsy for the above kick in the eye, which snapped me, I hope, out of the strange loop that’s been circling in the noodle for the past day or so. The clip is from Adaptation (Jonze, Kaufman, Kaufman, 2002) which I must look at again, it’s been ages.
But yes, the loop. I’ve had one song in my head for almost twenty four hours, sleeping through it and waking up with it. The song that played endlessly in my head was You Are What You Love, by Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins, from Rabbit Fur Coat, and I have to say I was rather enjoying it.
It’s been out too long to be considered among the Tunes of The Year this year, but it’s the most recent track in the stack to attain the dizzy heights of a five-star rating. And it’s two years old. As I’ve said before, the way I listen to music has changed, and the way I have things set up, it’s hard for new things to get the attention they (sometimes) deserve. This, however, comes under the category of problems that don’t actually feel like problems, day to day. You can’t listen to everything that’s worth hearing immediately, let alone, you know, everything.
