So, I finally found a minute to chase up Curtis’s recent recommendation of Richard Misrach’s photography, in relation to the yosigo picture I posted a few days ago, and I can definitely see the resemblance. Not only that, it turned out that I already had a piece of Misrach’s work on my bookshelves: the cover photograph of Baudrillard’s America (1988) is one of his. The image above was used on the cover of Baudrillard’s Cool Memories IV, which I don’t have on my shelves, but I wish I did.

I own this Misrach:

I bought it at a fundraiser for a nonprofit arts organization in 1984. Great picture.
Great picture indeed, and another one that turns up on my shelves or, in this case, boxes: it was used on the cover of the first Lloyd Cole & the Commotions hits compilation in 1989.
Who knew? Thas pretty neat. I think it’s the first piece of art I ever bought.
