A Shanty in Old Shanty Town

Sometimes, only the Ink Spots will do. I would have liked to have put up Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, but YouTube didn’t have that.

BTW, do NOT be tempted by the cover version of My Prayer, by Blanche, which may be lurking in the related attractions when the clip above reaches its conclusion. It is truly frightful. The guy was so insanely off key with his first line that I didn’t allow it to continue. I don’t usually jump at the ‘off’ button so quickly, unless I’ve just heard the opening announcement of an awards show, or a phone-in. On reflection, I can also imagine certain situations involving industrial or farming machinery that would probably do the trick…

My father used to sing “In a Shanty in Old Shanty Town” as a lullaby when I was a small child. I had Googled the song title and listened to various versions. The Ink Spots sang it much like my father (who has passed on) did. Thanks for the memories.
